Just wanted to share my purchase of MOTIVES Cosmetics from my talented bro-in-law, Jon Freitas!
I'm not a big makeup person however, with a few simple items he was able to make me look glam for my photo shoot with my Abalone Sisters last Friday. High quality cosmetics at a reasonable price!

Tanna Dang's BBF got married today at the Royal Hawaiian! HURRAY!
I got to shoot alongside one of my best buds and one of Hawai'i's premier photographers, Dave Miyamoto! This was actually his wedding and I asked Dave if I could tag along & he said, "SHOOTZ, Sistah!!!"

Today's wedding took me out to the west side of O'ahu to the Mariott's Ihilani Resort. It was a glorious day for Jamie and Mike's wedding! The weather was gorgeous, the Wedding Party was fun and everything ran on schedule.
Jamie and Mike picked a great team for their special day. I'd like to thank these Pros for being so great at their crafts therefore, making today run so smoothly and LOVELY:

Flowers - SU-V Expressions - I really love Sue's work! And I love her too! It's a great honor when I get to photograph her masterpieces. Today's theme was "butterflies" and she did an awesome job incorporating it into today's florals.
Coordination - Kelly Sugano - A Perfect Day - May I just say a very special MAHALO to Kelly and her girls who worked so hard today! AND a VERY SPECIAL MAHALO to Kelly and Mary for assisting us with the Table Shots. Because of their kokua it helped to make that process run smoothly and QUICKLY! You girls ROCK!!!

Da Cake - Cake Lava - WOAH!!! Rick and Sasha Reichart never cease to disappoint!!! This creative husband and wife team are so innovative and incredible. Their cakes are actual pieces of artwork. They do an outstanding job in taking whatever theme is requested by their clients and then bringing it to life in their delectable cakes. Always fun, extraordinary AND ono!!!

One of my highlights of today was the opportunity to work with my darling little sister!
When I first started out in 1999, Daisy was my one and only assistant. We worked, learned and played together during my times as a fledgling photographer. Nine years later we're still doing the same thing! Working, learning, playing and oh! And laughing a lot together!!!
Do you know, she even ran the Ford Island 10K this morning and managed to stay right on top of things throughout the afternoon and evening??? She's so amazing and I am really blessed to have her as my best friend, sister & photo caddy...
Another highlight of today was meeting Mr. Jake Shimabukuro. Our beloved island boy has done good, ladies and gentlemen!
I knew he was an incredibly talented and gifted musician. However, after meeting him today, the experience brought me to a new found level of respect for him! He is a humble, kind, caring and profound soul. It's no wonder then that he's been gifted with such an artistic way to express himself! Now, when I hear or see Jake play, it's not about this guy who can jam on the ukulele.
And this guy can really JAM!
He is also expressing his beautiful spirit to us! MAHALO, Jake for sharing your gift and smile with all of us!!!

Another gorgeous day, another gorgeous wedding!!! Mahalo, Jamie and Mike for your kindness. It was so nice to get to know the both of you better through the stories told by your family and friends. You've been truly blessed with many key people in your lives. I wish you both the best that life has to offer!!!

Wow! Another great wedding in Hawai'i nei! MAHALO to Candace and Joe for their spectacular wedding at Secret Island at Kualoa Beach Park and very fun & interactive reception at the New Otani Hotel in Waikiki. The laughter, champagne, and fun flowed throughout the day.
Thank you to their family members and warm & zany friends who helped to make their day so memorable and exciting!!!

This Saturday, I started off my working day at the Hawai'i Prince Hotel. Morning weddings are cool because after the festivities are pau, you still have the rest of the day to play!
I knew from the sunrise this morning, that it was going to be another glorious day for a wedding!
We started out at Hawai'i Prince Hotel for Getting Ready shots with the girls and guys. I was soooo excited to see my girls - Vicky Choe-Harrington and CJ Bae. Fabulous women who are fabulous makeup artists! What a great way to start the day!
When everyone was ready we headed over to shoot our Formals at - La Pietra - Hawai'i School for Girls.
I really enjoy shooting at La Pietra especially in the early mornings. It's such an ideal location for a couple of significant reasons: 1) The architecture and grounds- it's got this Italian, Tuscany feel to it. It's very different! And very versatile. You have the courtyards and the lush grounds to work with.
2) The privacy - you're not competing with a million people walking in the background or around you. It's so quiet and peaceful! You have an hour and a half of shooting time all to ourselves! And that time goes by very quickly. You can find out more information from La Pietra on how to reserve the grounds and what the fee is. If your venues do not provide ideal photography areas then booking La Pietra is definitely worth considering.
After a successful shoot at La Pietra we headed back to Hawai'i Prince Hotel where Jamie and Kyle tied the knot at The Promenade and celebrated in the ballroom!

HEART STRINGS NOTE:
I had the great pleasure of photographing Kyle's brother's wedding in 2005. So you can imagine how exciting it was to be able to see my cool couple, Tina and Marc again! I was referred to Jamie and Kyle by Tina and Marc. I'm so glad they're doing so well and can't thank them enough for passing on my name.
MAHALO, Tina and Marc!!! Can't wait to see you again!

It's always a treat when one of our local boyz returns home to celebrate his marriage with his 'ohana and friends. Kalani, a Kamehameha graduate, exchanged vows today with his beautiful wife at the historic Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop Memorial Chapel.
Amber, a Chicago girl, along with her 'ohana and friends were also present for the ceremony and celebration at the Hale Koa's Luau Gardens. What a wonderful group of people!
Three years ago on this day, Jon Mozo, completed his earthly duties and was summoned Home.
He was a true friend to many, a father, husband, son and brother to a beautiful family, a waterman, artist, and a genuine example of goodness and love.
I am so honored to call him my friend and mentor...

As I sit here reminiscing about the year I decided to take the plunge of opening my own photography business in 1999, I am filled with so much gratitude... I am humbled at the fact that I have been given a chance to do something I truly love, in a place I love, with people I love! How fortunate am I!!!
